Long-Term Impact of Foster Care on Romantic Relationships
in Young Adulthood: A Quantitative Study of Attachment

A psychological study by J. Ash Bowie, MA
California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco, CA

Welcome and thank you for your interest in this study. My name is J. Ash Bowie, a doctoral graduate student in clinical psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA. I am conducting research asking how time spent in foster care impacts the ability to form healthy and stable relationships in adulthood.

If you are now between the ages of 18 and 26 and have spent any time in foster care as a child, you are welcome to participate. It doesn't matter how old you were during your time in foster care, how many placements you experienced, or how long you were in the system, your input in this study will be very valuable.

The study consists of several questionnaires, which all together should take between 20 and 40 minutes of your time. Your participation will be entirely confidential.

You are encouraged to ask questions or voice any concerns you might have about this research. If you wish, you may email me at ash@fosterstudy.com. You may also contact—anonymously, if you wish—the Chair of the Human Research Review Committee at the California Institute of Integral Studies: 1453 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, telephone: (415) 575-6100.
